Inconel® 625 (UNS N06625) is a nickel-based superalloy with excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion. The nickel-chromium matrix of this material is reinforced by the addition of molybdenum and niobium, which is alloyed through solid solution strengthening. This process allows alloy Inconel® 625 to maintain high strength and toughness at temperatures ranging from cryogenic up to 1800 degree F (982 degree ).

Inconel 625 has good hot working properties at high temperatures, such as hot forging, hot rolling, hot extrusion, etc. Appropriate heating temperature and hot working conditions can make the alloy easy to deform and form.
Inconel 625 has certain plasticity at room temperature, but it is a heat-resistant alloy, so its cold working ability is limited. Large deformation and cold working may lead to increased brittleness of the alloy and decreased performance.
Inconel 625 has excellent weldability and can be connected by a variety of welding methods, such as TIG (tungsten inert gas shielded welding), MIG (metal inert gas shielded welding) and arc welding. However, it is important to control the welding temperature and welding heat input during the welding process to avoid alloy embrittlement and the generation of pores.
Inconel 625 has certain work hardening, that is, grain refinement and strengthening will occur during the processing, improving the hardness and strength of the alloy. However, excessive work hardening may lead to increased brittleness of the alloy, so proper annealing is required during processing to restore the toughness and plasticity of the alloy.
When processing and manufacturing Inconel 625 parts, surface treatments such as pickling, shot peening or mechanical polishing are usually required to remove surface oxides, welding slag or other contaminants and improve the surface quality and corrosion resistance of the material.
